Course summary

Chemistry is the science of the composition, structure, properties and reactions of matter, understood in terms of atoms, atomic particles and the way they are arranged and link together. It allows students to delve deeper into how the world works, so they can be instrumental in predicting interactions of matter. Paper 1- physical and Inorganic Chemistry Written exam: 2 hours 105 marks 35% A-level Paper 2- physical and Organic Chemistry Written exam: 2 hours 105 marks 35% of A-level Paper 3- Any content and Practical Skills Written exam: 2 hours 90 marks 30% of A-level Practical Endorsement Practical work brings science to life, helping students make sense of the universe around them, this is why we practical work, at the heart of Chemistry A level. Practical science allows scientific theory to transform into deep knowledge and understand scientific thinking. Through investigation, students uncover the important links between their personal observation and scientific ideas. Students will complete 12 examined practical over 2 years, if completed to the required standard, they will receive an additional endorsement from AQA with their exam results.
