Course Outline / Topics / Assessment Politics is the most relevant and current A level you can study – whilst lessons follow a specification, they are constantly evolving to fit in with current political trends and issues. It is different to any GCSE you have studied – there is a big focus on critical debate and evaluation. You will look at big questions in the world of politics, and consider the impact they have on society as a whole. You will learn how our system of government and politics works, and compare this with that of the USA. It gives you exceptional transferable skills – evaluation, problem solving, critical thinking, analysis, debate. You will look at how political theory underpins everything in our system of governance. It links incredibly well to other fields – voting behaviour and psychology, pressure groups and medicine,the judiciary and robotics.

UK Politics Section A: Political Participation: Democracy and Participation Political Parties Electoral Systems Voting Behaviour and the Media Section B: Core Political Ideas Conservatism – Liberalism – Socialism 2 hour exam – 2 x 30 mark + 1 x 24 mark 2. UK Government Section A: UK Government The Constitution Parliament Prime Minister and the Executive Relationships between these branches Section B – Optional Political Ideas Nationalism 2 hour exam – 2 x 30 mark + 1 x 24 mark 3.
