Course Outline / Topics Year 12 - Autumn Term IDENTITY – focus: Contextual Studies, Sculpture in clay and papier maché You will begin by studying the work of contemporary artists, such as Grayson Perry and selected artifact from Art History. You will create large scale sculptures in clay and papier maché Year 12 - Spring Term MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOPS - focus: mixed media, painting, printing etc. You will be looking at a variety of mark making techniques and drawing in paints, collage and inks from a variety of natural objects, landscapes and portraits. Your work will lead to you creating a composition of your own design. Year 12 - Summer Term & Year 13 Autumn and Spring Terms PERSONAL INVESTIGATION - You will chose a theme of your own and create a whole set of project work based on that theme. The Personal Investigation also includes an illustrated written related study of between 1000 and 3000 words.

Assessment
The A Level grade for Art & Design is made up of 60%. Personal Investigation and 40% Externally Set Task. Homework is marked weekly and at the end of each project, a final mark will be given. All work is marked in line with the exam board’s four assessment objectives (AO): AO1 Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. AO2 Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. AO3 Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress. AO4 Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
