• You will study sociology, history, politics, literature, film, media and ethics in the language you choose to study. • You will debate a range of topics including: the significance of marriage in modern society; the impact of technology on society; music; culture and the politics and economics of French speaking countries. • You will study a period of French history in Year 13. La Résistance is a key movement in France’s modern history during WW2. • You will study a film which will expose you to colloquial French and allow you to understand French thought and debate issues such as immigration and racism in France and in the media. • You will study a French novel, Un Sac de Billes, which is a gripping and uplifting story about two boys risking their lives during WW2 as they try to escape Nazi occupied Paris.
ALL EXAMS ARE AT THE END OF YEAR 13 Paper 1: Listening, reading and writing • Aspects of French society • Artistic culture in the French speaking world • Multiculturalism in Francophone society • Aspects of political life in Francophone society • Grammar Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes - 100 marks / 50% of A-level Paper 2: Writing Essay responses on one text and one film from the specification Written exam: 2 hours - 80 marks in total / 20% of A-level Paper 3: Speaking Discussion of a sub-theme with the discussion based on a stimulus card (5-6 minutes) Individual research project (12 minutes) Oral exam: 21–23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation time) - 60 marks in total / 30% of A-level
