Course Content: AS:Paper 1 = A Street Car Named Desire, a play that captures the hardships of the American Dream and gender dynamics. Poems of the Decade, an anthology that explores key issues and ideas relating to contemporary society. Paper 2 = a prose comparison of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Both novels explore ideas relating to the power of science and influence of society. A2: Paper 1: Drama: Shakespeare’s Othello is added to paper 1 alongside A Street Car Named Desire Paper 2: Prose: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Paper 3: Poetry: Christina Rossetti is explored alongside Poems of the Decade Coursework: 20% of your awarded mark, comprising of a novel comparison between The Color Purple and Oranges are not the only Fruit.
