Spanish is the second most used language in international communication, and an official language of the UN and its organisations. An advanced knowledge of Spanish provides extensive opportunities for both world travel and future career development in such areas as diverse as engineering and law, finance and fashion, tourism and business, development work and conservation, medicine and translation/interpretation. A Level Spanish builds on the key GCSE skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing and develops the language and intellectual skills you require to tackle real issues. You will use a wealth of real life resources to expand your vocabulary and comprehension and have a study slot each week with a native speaker to help your skills and confidence grow. Speaking (30%) You will discuss a stimulus card on a theme and present an Independent Research Project. Listening, Reading and Writing (50%) You will complete listening and reading tasks. Essay Writing (20%) You will write two extended critical and analytical essays on cultural topics. A Level Spanish provides access to language-based university courses and careers, plus opportunities to study and visit other countries. Gap year travel in Spain and Latin America are many and varied.
