Course summary

A Level Art and Design lays excellent foundations for a career in the creative industries, although the ability to 'think outside the box' and the observational skills learnt through this subject are considered valuable in a whole spectrum of professions. Art and Design is an exploration of practical and contextual work through a range of 2D and/or 3D processes and mediums. Students have the opportunity to develop their creativity through a range of media including fine art, graphical communication, textiles, three-dimensional design and photography. A Level Art is a significant step up from GCSE Art and offers you the opportunity to study this subject in much greater depth and detail. A Level opens up a wider range of opportunities, media and tools to use. Our experienced and specialist teachers will guide you through various techniques and media to explore your creative potential. Students will explore photography, drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking. You will develop an extensive range of creative practical work and technical skills and gain a strong understanding of visual art practice, through supporting contextual studies. There are many different types of media and genres that art can exist in, which means there are countless career paths in the art industry. Careers using creative skills include fashion design, graphic design, illustration and product design.

Entry requirements

QEHS 42 Points and Grade 6 or above in GCSE Art.
